Hohenwerfen Castle is a medieval castle located approximately 25 miles south of Salzburg, Austria. The castle, built on a rock formation, has excellent views of the valley below. The admission fee to the castle includes the vertical train ride to the top and a guided tour (German only; the other languages are offered on audio guides). Parking is free. The highlights of the castle include impressive views of the Salzach valley below, large collection of medieval arms and armor and few birds of pray on display (they were in cages when we visited).
